Corporate Finance advisers Watersheds are pleased to announce the successful merger of Blastparts Ltd of Chesterfield into the business of their Client, Maun Industries Ltd, a Nottinghamshire based specialist hand tool manufacturer.
Blastparts manufactures spare parts for automatic shot blast machine equipment and carries one of the UK's most extensive ranges of shot blast spares available for next day dispatch. Blastparts' CEO, Philip Such, will work alongside Maun Industries' owner Eddie Thomas to ensure the smooth integration of the Blastparts business into Maun's operations.
Maun Industries is the largest UK volume manufacturer of pliers. In addition, the company produces specialist crimpers, nippers and cable cutters and has a world-wide reputation for the manufacture of sealing and identification tools, covering diverse applications such as ear tags for the identification of livestock and parallel action pliers for sealing electricity meters.
A third of Maun's turnover is exported, going to over 35 countries.
The deal was structured by Watersheds' partner Stephen Smart, who comments:
"I had the opportunity to work with Eddie Thomas 18 months ago on his acquisition of Maun and said at the time that … 'Eddie's ambition and experience has put the business in a strong position for future growth'. Now, despite the downturn and the resulting toughest of tough environments that is UK manufacturing, Eddie is doing more than riding the storm, he is shrewdly positioning the business for the upturn."
Eddie is enthusiastic about the deal, saying:
"This merger of two specialised product producers brings operating synergies and a manufacturing opportunity to Maun. Maun delivers a quality product to its customers, has a highly skilled workforce and absorbing Blastparts' operations is a natural extension to our core expertise.
Thanks to the professional approach by Watersheds, the transaction ran smoothly and efficiently from the start, enabling me to concentrate on the business aspects."
